Don't Shoot The Librarian

This is exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about right here: Antoinette Graham's listing/resource of Notable Librarians and Libraries in Film. It's not only compendious, it's amusing and informative - just like real librarians, right? And you can feel the obsession burning high and bright. Give it a look. There's a whole chapter of lists in Ten Bad Dates called 'Careers You Might Consider', about certain neurotic professions - architect, scientist, pianist, journalist - upon which cinema seems to depend for certain character 'types'. But I had quite ignored the unsung, essentially 'linking' function of the book-lender...
