This is a simple list also from RAVI HOLY of his favourite films according to country of origin, and some crackers there are too. Makes you think, but. Quite a few of these films were breakout foreign-language successes in the UK and US, and if non-Anglophone producers could distil the formula for making such crossover hits then the world of film would be a wealthier, more boringly homogeneous place... Probably best to see these ten as gloriously distinctive products of their respective national cultures, if not necessarily the ones the Tourist Board would like you to take in...

Great list Ravi - started to do my own and began to realise that many of mine were not set in their country of origin. Decided therefore that rather than just give my own version of your list I'd do "my favourite films from one country but set in another" (which I have submitted on the "what's your ten...?" page).
Good list. I'd go with Wild Strawberries for Swedish film. 8andahalf for Italian. Pan's Labyrinth for Mexico. Delicatessen for France. Ran for Japan. Citizen Kan for USA, or Star Wars (my two favorite films). The Lords Trilogy for New Zealand and yest City of God (incredible film)for Argentenia,Brazil....Ravi you are good film buff..RESPECT out to you.
