Sight & Sound, index-linked

posted @12:27 p.m. by Richard Kelly

Some kind words for Ten Bad Dates in the December 2007 Sight & Sound, reviewer Michael Brooke speaking of "Kelly's delectable volume" - the first time that adjective has been applied to anything associated with your humble correspondent.
Mr Brooke also proposes a list of 'Otherwise Outstanding Film Books Mildly Hamstrung by Their Lack of a Decent Index.' You want to know what I say to that...?

I say, fair play, Mr Brooke is by no means alone among readers in querying this particular lack: for my part I can only say that I wanted the lists to have some suspense in their 10-1 countdowns, and for each reader to discover their own way through the mix, encountering new pleasures en route to their more familiar favourites - and for both of those reasons, I felt an index would have been a cheat. Trust me, otherwise I would have been happy to compile the index myself. Indices are a guilty pleasure all of their own...

I love the book. It's the most entertaining book of film reviews I have ever read.

There is one list missing from the book. It is the index.
As a cinephile I need an index listing every film mentioned in the book with the page number. A list of great importance.

If anyone has made one, let me know.

Cheers
